The remainder of yesterday did continue the way that was previously predicted. Snow began in the Eau Claire area around 1:45pm and continued almost continuously for the rest of the day and through the night. Temperatures yesterday remained warmer than they were on Sunday. The snow continued though the night and into the morning. The past five months Eau Claire has had below average temperatures and it appears that Eau Claire is entering its sixth month given this start to April.

Today in Eau Claire there are similar temperatures to yesterday with continued snowfall from yesterday's storm. The northeastern winds are keeping temperatures cold for continued snowfall and very low visability. The surface map in Figure 1 shows that Eau Claire is completely surrounded and in a snowstorm. Today the snow should continue for the rest of the day. The winter storm warning for Eau Claire has been extended until 1 AM on Wednesday. The water vapor satellite imagery in Figure 2 shows the path of water vapor coming down from the northeast into the Midwest and tapering off into the southwest.

Tomorrow's Forecast:
I believe the weather conditions currently being experienced in Eau Claire will last the rest of the day with continued snowfall of varied amounts. The Eau Claire area is predicted to receive 4 to 6 inches of snow today as shown in Figure 3. This is less than was originally predicted for today as of yesterday, so maybe we will get even less snowfall than this prediction. The rest of the week is predicted to be dry with no more snowfall. Temperatures however for early April are expected to remain cold. Through next weekend there will still be no signs of spring.

Today is National Find a Rainbow Day! Given that it is snowing, not raining today this one might be a little difficult. Perhaps we should all jump in a car and drive to warmer weather where we might actually see a rainbow. Wishful thinking...
